Immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) are a group of chronic inflammatory disorders induced by the interaction of genetic and environmental factors (such as infection, allergen exposure, and intestinal flora imbalance), which trigger abnormal activation of the immune system and involve multiple tissues and organs. IMIDs include atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vitiligo, etc. The core pathogenesis of IMIDS involves the imbalance between innate and adaptive immunity, excessive activation of pro-inflammatory signaling pathways (such as IL-23/Th17, TLR/NF-κB), and massive release of inflammatory factors (such as TNF-α, IL-4, IL-8), which seriously endanger the life quality of patients. Conventional treatments mainly consists of immunosuppressants, steroid hormones, and biological agents, but they have limitations such as poor response, intolerance in some patients, and high costs. As a characteristic therapy combining meridian-acupoint stimulation and autohemotherapy, acupoint autohemotherapy (A-AHT) has gradually attracted attention in the treatment of IMIDs in recent years. This article aims to systematically review the research progress of A-AHT in IMIDs such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, asthma, and rheumatoid arthritis, and to analyze its immunomodulatory mechanisms of action, the efficacy of combined treatment applications, the improvement of prognosis in special populations, and the innovative progress in clinical applications. The article also summarize the deficiencies in current research and look forward to the future research directions of in-depth exploration of action targets and multi-center large-sample clinical verification, so as to provide a more comprehensive reference for further standardized application of A-AHT in IMIDs.
