Study on the Efficacy of Qingjin Jianghuo Decoction Combined with FBAL in the Treatment of Severe Pneumonia with the Syndrome of Phlegm-Heat Obstructing the Lung

Objective: To investigate the synergistic efficacy of qingjin jianghuo decoction combined with fiberoptic bronchoalveolar lavage (FBAL) in improving ventilation function through mechanical clearance of airway secretions, on clinical symptoms, blood gas parameters, and inflammatory markers in severe pneumonia patients with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung.Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in a hospital on the clinical data of 73 severe pneumonia patients with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung. The patients were divided into the experimental group (n=36) and the control group (n=37) according to the treatment methods. Patients in the control group were treated with FBAL, while patients in the experimental group treated with qingjin jianghuo decoction combined with FBAL. SPSS software was used to extract and statistically analyze baseline demographic characteristics, hospitalization details, clinical symptom resolution, blood gas parameters [including arterial oxygen partial pressure (PaO2), arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure (PaCO2), and oxygen saturation (SpO2)], inflammatory markers [C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), procalcitonin (PCT)], and discharge outcomes.Results: Compared with the control group, the experimental group demonstrated faster improvement in fever, cough, and dyspnea (P<0.05); blood gas analysis showed increased PaO2 and SpO2 level (P<0.001), and decreased PaCO2 level (P<0.001); inflammatory markers (CRP, PCT, IL-6) reduced (P<0.001).Conclusion: Qingjin jianghuo decoction combined with FBAL can promote symptom resolution, improve oxygenation, and reduce systemic inflammation in severe pneumonia patients with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung.
