Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of nutrition intervention during pregnancy to iron deficiency anemia patients on pregnant women and maternal and child outcomes. Methods: 160 cases of pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia were randomly divided into control group and observation group, 80 cases respectively. The control group was given conventional health education and treatment, and the observation group was supplied nutrition guidance and intervention in nutrition clinic. The indexes of RBC, HGB, weight of newborns and complications were compared between the two groups after intervention. Results: After intervention, the levels of RBC and HGB in the observation group were much higher than the control group(P<0.01). The incidence rates of low birthweight infant and giant baby in the observation group were respectively 5.0% and 6.3%, lower than the control group(17.5% and 21.3%, P<0.05). The incidence rates of complications such as hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy, premature birth and postpartum hemorrhage in the observation group were respectively 7.5%, 3.8% and 2.5%, all lower than the control group(22.5%, 12.5% and 11.3%, P<0.05). Conclusion: Pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia carrying out nutrition guidance and intervention could obviously correct anemia status in pregnancy, cut down incidence rates of low birthweight infant and giant baby, and prevent the incidence of pregnancy complications.
