Abstract: Objective：To investigate the efficacy and safety of retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine on chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and its effect on inflammatory response factors. Methods：116 patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease treated in our hospital from July 2016 to July 2017 were selected as subjects，and were divided into two groups using random number table method：the control group(n=58)and the observation group(n=58). Patients in the control group were treated with conventional Chinese medicine. Patients in the observation group were applied adjuvant therapy with retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine on the basis of the control group. The quality of life scores，clinical efficacy，and levels of IL-2，IL-10，and TNF-α inflammatory factors were compared between the two groups. Results： After the treatment， the effective rate（72.4% vs 50%）and the quality of life score of the patients in the observation group were higher than those of the control group.The levels of serum inflammatory factors IL-2， IL-10 and TNF-α in the two groups were lower after treatment than those before the treatment.And the levels of serum IL-2， IL-10 and TNF-α of the patients in the observation group were lower than those of the control group.There was statistically significant difference(P<0.05).No significant adverse reaction was observed in either group. Conclusion：Retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine has good curative effect，and high safety in the treatment of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease，which may be related to its effective inhibition of serum IL-2， IL-10 and TNF-α levels.
