Abstract: Tongue diagnosis is an important evidence in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) inspection to determine the location， nature， prescription and prognosis of the disease. Inquiry is often emphasized in TCM diagnosis， while the understanding of tongue diagnosis is often relatively superficial， and the reports of tongue diagnosis in the syndrome differentiation of the disease and medication are few. The “tongue-syndrome” theory of TCM tongue diagnosis is a theoretical system based on tongue manifestation， combined with the physical conditions under the disease， to summarize disease syndrome and pathogenesis and the rules of medication. In this study， the syndrome types under different tongue manifestation were analyzed by the theory of “tongue-syndrome”， so as to guide the syndrome differentiation and medication in the treatment of acne， and to explore its advantages.
