Abstract: Kaixin powder in “Beiji Qianjin Yao Fang”， as one of the classical famous formulas of Chinese medicine， is a commonly used formula in traditional Chinese medicine for treating “ forgettery ”.In the process of later application， a number of categorized formulas have been derived. Compared with kaixin powder in “Beiji Qianjin Yao Fang”， their functions and indications have both “integrity” and “innovation”， so it is necessary to research the functions and indications of kaixin powder and its categorized formulas. The dosage of polygala tenuifolia， ginseng， poria cocos and calamus in kaixin powde were 13.8， 13.8， 27.6，13.8 g， and their ratio was 1∶1∶2∶1， which was consistent with the “Key Information Table of Ancient Classical Famous Formulas of Chinese Medicine”. Later doctors expanded the treatment range of kaixin powder， such as to treat palpitation. In this study， after literature review and expert identification， 7 kaixin powder categorized formulas were analyzed， which found that adding fu shen can tonifying heart-Qi， addiing coptis can clear the heart heat， adding cinnabar， dens draconis can clear heart and settle palpitation， adding radix curcumae and chrysophoron can calm down palpitation； adding cinnamon and aconite can calm the mind. In addition， this study illustrates the application range and method of this formula through two cases. The document mining model of kaixin powder can provide an example for further research on ancient classical famous formulas.
