Abstract: As a classic prescription in Treatise on Febrile Diseases， chaihu guizhi ganjiang decoction has been developed by later medical experts and is not confined to the use on typhoid fever. It has been widely used in the clinical practice of internal medicine， gynecology and other aspects， and has good curative effect. However， the controversy over the pathogenesis of chaihu guizhi ganjiang decoction has a long history， and doctors treating typhoid have their own views. For the new or less experienced doctors， it is inevitable to be confused about what symptoms the patient appears， and what the pathogenesis is to choose chaihu guizhi ganjiang decoction is the most appropriate situation. Professor CAO Hongxia has been engaged in the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine for more than 20 years， and has been skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of various internal， gynecological and pediatric diseases. She has used chaihu guizhi ganjiang decoction a lot. She does not stick to the theories of some doctors， but learns from others and combines her own experience， and the curative effect is often very good. Therefore， two classic medical cases and their clinical diagnosis and treatment ideas were sorted out in this article， and the understanding of pathogenesis of chaihu guizhi ganjiang decoction was expounded. It is expected to be beneficial to the clinical application of chaihu guizhi ganjiang decoction.
